Hiking is a wonderful way to see some of the spectacular scenery in the Winter Park area, and there is so much to see! The Winter Park/Fraser Valley area has hundreds of miles of trails that lead to places that will take your breath away. These hikes can lead you to pristine mountain lakes, serene streams, delicate tundra and abundant wildlife; and they always lead you to fresh mountain air, tranquil breezes, and entrancing sights. Many of the mountain peaks stand at an elevation of more than 12,000 feet and dominate this area that is completely surrounded by the Arapaho National Forest and three designated wilderness areas.

In addition to the trails that run throughout the valley, Winter Park Resort is also a great place to hike during the summer. The resort has two trails that are designated just for hikers. A chairlift ride on the Zephyr Express takes hikers to a trail that travels along a mountain ridge to the summit of Mary Jane at 12,600 feet and to stunning views. Riding up the chairlift can also allow hikers to skip the vigorous workout of the uphill climb and simply enjoy the downhill journey that travels along the wide open trails of Winter Park Mountain.

Whether you hike in the lower part of the valley or to the high mountain peaks you are sure to feel refreshed after breathing the fresh mountain air and capturing some of Winter Park's breathtaking views.

Free Guided Winter Park Hikes

Take advantage of a free guided hike this summer provided by the Winter Park Chamber of Commerce. Just go to the chamber building located across from McDonalds and Hideaway Park.
