December has arrived in Winter Park Colorado once again. One can tell that winter has arrived in our little town of Winter Park by the street light decorations that light up the sky with their happy twinkling at night. Many of the downtown shops are also getting into the festive spirit of the season adorning their businesses with sparkling light fixtures. Yes, the winter ski season is upon us once more.
There are a lot of activities also going on during the month of December. Saturday, December 3rd, begins with the DemoFest held at Winter Park Resort. This free event takes place at the base of Winter Park Resort giving the public an opportunity to demo this year’s ski and snowboard equipment. The event is free for everyone. You must be at least 18 to participate, have a valid driver’s license. If you are under 18 then you need to have parental consent. This is a great way to check out what is new in the ski and snowboard industry before buying skis or snowboards. Companies that will be participating include Fortitude, Head, Icelantic, K2 Skis, Liberty Skis, Ramp Sports, Salomon, Vertical Skis, Flow, K2 Snowboards and Never Summer.
Later in the evening, join the Winter Park Competition Center in celebrating the 29th Annual Chef’s Cup. This event is a benefit for the Winter Park Ski and Snowboard Foundation. Attendees will enjoy delicious food from local restaurants that will be sharing their house specialties. Beverage offerings include wine and beer. A live DJ will provide a lively atmosphere with some great music to dance and listen to as you enjoy the event. A silent auction will give attendees another opportunity to help support the cause.
A list of the Local menus to be featured at the 29th Annual Winter Park Chef’s club will include; Emilies/Back Country Grill; Deno’s Mountain Bistro; Devil’s Thumb Ranch; Tabernash Tavern; Fontenot’s Fresh Seafood Grill; Hernando’s Pizza and Pasta Pub; Maverick’s Grille; MPHS Pro Start; Showboat Drive By Pie & Catering; The Library (a new restaurant in town as of this summer) along with The Winter Park Sushi Bar; The Lodge at Sunspot; and Wild Horse Catering.
