Winter Park Connection to the Olympics!

February 24th, 2010

Ryan Catches Air

Ryan Catches Air

Seems like we all know someone who knows someone that’s making headlines. Something like that “6 places removed” or whatever. Well for us in Winter Park, we are celebrating the success of Ryan St. Onge! During the Free style skiing men’s aerials he finished 2nd qualifying him for final rounds.
From Ryan’s home page we learn he did his first quadruple twisting triple back flip at age 5. And it didn’t matter one bit that it wasn’t planned. Sounds like he was a natural from the start. Ryan’s parents Cary and Sara, moved their family to Winter Park when Ryan was 8, where he got his start. Well now he is proving himself at the Olympics and we all wish him the best! Good Luck on Thursday Ryan!

Hey, if Ryan wins a medal on Thursday at the Vancouver Olympics, we’ll offer a weekend special “buy 1 night get the 2nd night at half off!” Only for the weekend of Feb. 26. Must reserve inadvance! 800-824-8438 and mention our Ryan’s Blog!

Snowsports Industries America comes to Winter Park!

January 28th, 2010

What a kudos to Winter Park Resort for scoring the 1st International two day on snow demo and free ride fest in conjunction with the Denver SIA tradeshow. SIA is all about snowsport retailers getting together to share new ideas, gear and equipment that we, the public, will soon get to enjoy! The Tradeshow, which used to take place in Vegas, is being held at the Denver Convention Center. Following the show, for the first time ever, is a demo and free ride fest for the attendees including Alpine, snowboard, tele, cross-country and snowshoe gear. In addition to Winter Park Resort, Devil’s Thumb Resort in nearby Tabernash will be the site for cross-country and snowshoe events. Winter Park stands to gain great notoriety from those in the snow business as we get to showcase our winter destination!

Beaver Village Condominiums is providing lodging and special deals for the SIA participants. Check out our website for more info on nightly lodging and accommodations in town!

Winter Park Carnival Jan 22-24, 2010

January 14th, 2010

DiscoverDowntownWPsignWinter Park Carnival is almost here! This fun event started as Mary Jane’s Birthday Bash several years ago. As you may or may not know, Mary Jane was the infamous entreprenuer who made her way in Winter Park as a prostitute in the late 1800’s. Her unique talents awarded her a special place in the history of Winter Park and she is notably referenced when locals say “they skied Mary Jane’s backside”!

These days, Winter Park celebrates the festivities as a carnival with parade, dog sled races, music at the park, campfire in the park, pancake breakfast, and so much more! The Winter Park Carnival weekend will be fun for the whole family. We invite you to stay with us and take advantage of our great location which is close to town and the ski resort! Check out the schedule at Winter Park Visitor Center.

Winter Park Resort also celebrates 70 Year Anniversary!

New Recreation & Fitness Center!

December 15th, 2009

Web size Diving boardFraser Valley has long awaited the opening of the Metropolitan Rec. Center scheduled to open December 18. Typically, locals rely on the outdoors for activities, fitness workouts and all else that falls under the catagory of exercise. It’s a badge of honor that we wear to claim the valley, as mother nature intended, as our ‘fitness center’.

On the other hand, as temperatures dip to the negative and wind chill drives blinding ice pellets into our faces, it is exciting to have such a state of the art indoor place to release our pent up energy!

The Center offers a 4 lap lane swimming pool with low diving board and race platforms, lazy river, water slide, water play area, whirlpools, fitness floor, climbing wall, indoor track, basketball court and so much more. There will be the option for personal training, group workouts, learning clinics and exercise related networking.

The Center will be open for day guest visitation and is certainly available to our guests here at BVC. It’s only 1 mile from our property located at the opposite end of town. Stop by the front desk to get a discounted day pass!

Ski Season Approaches

November 2nd, 2009

The T-Bar Lift

The T-Bar Lift

Winter Park has had several snow storms since the end of summer, officially noted as September 21. We seemed to have skipped fall and gone right to winter. Somebody locally just dubbed it Finter.

The powdery white stuff is just what we need though to kick start the beginning of the ski season which is scheduled to open November 18, 09. This season officially marks the 70th anniversary of continual operation for Winter Park Ski Resort. Imagine skiing back then on long wooden boards and shoes that were just above the ankle, thank goodness for modern improvements. So grab your boards and come on up for early season fun. Beaver Village Condos is offering an anniversary special of our own- Yours! Tell us how long you have been married and we will match the years with the discount! Check out our other specials too.

Summer Straight to Winter!

October 5th, 2009

Geez, it’s already our 3rd snows storm since the end of summer (Sept 21)! If this is any inclination of the ski season, it should be a doozy!

While we seemed to have “fast forwarded” to winter, keep in mind the ski season opens at Winter Park on Nov 18, 09.

With lodging reservations, we sell discounted lift tickets too. The discounts are pretty substantial and will save you lots of money rather than getting tickets at the window. Plus you get your tickets at check-in and don’t have to stand in line at the ski area- just go ski! Give us a call asap to purchase tickets before 11/30/09- after this date the rates will increase.

Winter Park Resort is hosting a gear and goods event this weekend (Oct 9-10) if you need a new ride, c’mon up and check it out!

Snow is just around the corner!

September 8th, 2009

We are enjoying the last few weeks of summer, which is really Indian Summer, in the mountains. There’s a touch of yellow in the leaves and the days have been warm with crisp mornings and evenings. It’s a time to cherish as we know the snow is just around the corner and with that of course means ski season is just around the corner!

For all you powder hounds this could be the winter of winters as another El Nino is predicted. Typically we see more snow and drier snow and snow earlier in the season! So, if you haven’t been to Winter Park in awhile, whether it was last season or 20 seasons ago, dust off the boots and boards and get ready.

Beaver Village is offering special early season deals for your escape from the work week. We know skiers don’t “wish for” ski vacations, they NEED ski vacations! We try to make lodging in Winter Park as affordable as possible so check it out!

August has plenty of summer left to go!

July 31st, 2009

Yea, Yea, we’ve all been whining about how fast the summer is spinning by and the fact that it has been a “shorter” summer than most with cool wet weather. But let’s get over it!

There’s still a whole month of blessed Rocky Mountain summer to enjoy! The wild flowers are still in bloom due to all the moisture, grasses are green and tall and lakes and rivers are in healthy condition.

So take a look at Beaver Village Condos, good deals on the rates and specials page to see what fits your fancy; then grab a fishing rod, or your bike, or whatever you need and come visit! Every weekend there’s music somewhere, golf, hiking, biking, riding, soaking, shopping, funning (ok, I made that up) but you get the picture. We even “sell” fun if you can’t think of your own entertainment; stay with us and you can get discounted All Day Adverture Passes to Winter Park Resort for only $39 a person per day. That saves you $10 bucks each ticket!

There’s a great Arts and Crafts show coming 8/8 and 8/9 if you are in the mood to get ahead on Holiday gifts. Or check out the Fraser Riverdays for something more historical and educational.

August 14-16 is Winter Park’s 3rd annual Salute to American Veteran’s Rally with a parade, Remembrance Ceremony, flyovers and more. A wonderfully humbling and Patriotic celebration of our Miliatary Vets.

High Country Rodeo every Saturday night in Fraser through Labor Day.

Famous Flamethrowers High Altitude Chili Cookoff over the weekend of August 22 and 23 at Winter Park Resort.

So, c’mon up and quitcher whinin’! It’s still summertime!
